Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a treatment that involves replacing hormones that are either not being produced at sufficient levels or have become imbalanced in the body. This type of therapy is often used to treat symptoms associated with menopause and andropause (male menopause), as well as other conditions related to hormonal imbalances.
At our practice in Northvale, NJ, we offer a range of HRT treatment options to help alleviate the various symptoms associated with hormone imbalances. Our team of experienced medical professionals will work with you to determine the best course of treatment based on your unique needs and goals.
Some of the symptoms that HRT may be able to help with include hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, low libido, and weight gain. It can also help to improve bone density, reduce the risk of osteoporosis, and improve cardiovascular health.
Our HRT treatment options include both oral medications and hormone replacement pellets, which are placed under the skin to provide a steady, low-dose release of hormones. We also offer bioidentical hormone therapy, which uses hormones that are identical in structure and function to the ones produced naturally in the body.
If you are experiencing symptoms related to hormonal imbalances, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with our team to learn more about how HRT may be able to help you. Our goal is to help you feel your best and improve your overall quality of life.
Dr Suarez can prescribe all hormones. There are three types of prescription hormones: Synthetic, Natural, and Bioidentical. We prefer Bioidentical hormones. Synthetic hormones are mass produced, dosages are general and not made specifically for you. They also have more break down products and metabolites that can cause side effects. Natural hormones come from other animals and are similar to the hormones we naturally produce therefore, they have less side effects than synthetic hormones. Bioidentical hormones have the exact molecular structure of our hormones therefore, you can have higher doses, with less metabolites, less break down products, and therefore fewer side effects. Dosages can be made specifically to your needs. We will work with you to determine which hormones are right for you.
That will be based upon your labs and Doctor's recommended treatment program. We realize price can be an obstacle to feeling better, so we have aligned with certified pharmacies who offer excellent pricing to our patients.
Dr Suarez has personally selected nationally- certified compounding pharmacies considered the highest quality. Three we like are Medquest Pharmacy in Utah, Empower Pharmacy in Texas and other well known pharmacies.
Most people are good candidates for Hormone Replacement Therapy. We do not offer hormone therapy to pregnant women, breast-feeding women or patients with active cancer.
We will treat women who have recently delivered a child and are not currently breastfeeding. We also will treat cancer patients, once cured or in remission. For other medical conditions, the Doctor can assist you in determining if your personal doctor may need to approve our care. There's really a risk/benefit scenario here as imbalance hormones can increase your risks of insulin resistance, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and even cancer.
We care for both men and women. Many of our new patients are the partners of current patients, who come to us because their partner feels amazing and they would like to, as well!

There's a genetic component here. If this runs in your family, your risk of losing hair is higher. There is a risk of your hair thinning once you begin Testosterone Replacement therapy. Dr will recommend certain treatments while on the program to prevent your hair thinning.
DiHydroTestosterone (DHT) is the leading cause of male pattern baldness. If you are predisposed to going bald, you will likely go bald. We often include treatments in our protocols to help decrease this risk. There are also additional options that Dr Suarez will be able to discuss with you during your lab review consultation.
Generally, we do not treat children with hormones. We do have treatment plans using vitamin supplements and peptides that may help with various symptoms. These treatments must be consented and supervised by a parent.
